A great effort once again as the team raised £366 for this great charity.
And thanks to Park Cakes for their gift of sumptuous cakes.

This Friday (26th Sept) the Lighthouse team are holding a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
There’ll be a ‘prize every time’ Tombola and a book sale as well as copious amounts of tea and coffee and cake (with grateful thanks to Park Cakes) all served with a smile by the Lighthouse team.
Do come along and join us, and raise funds for this worthwhile charity.
After a whole week of glorious sunshine, the forecast said rain in the morning, clearing by lunch-time. So we thought we were in with a chance of barby-ing outside!
We should have known better – it rained, heavily at times.
So we left our our ‘chef extraordinaire’ out in the rain ……
…. and we enjoyed the fruit of his labours inside the church hall.
But it didn’t stop is having a great time and the grand sum of £118 was raised for Francis House.
Thanks to all those who helped (especially the chef!) and all those who supported us on a damp and dismal day.
On Saturday 6th September from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, we will be BBQing for anyone who wants to join us.
Whether you’re just passing by, standing at the bus stop, have a little time on your hands – or are just hungry and fancy a bite to eat – you will be welcome to join us. All we ask is that you make a donation to Francis House Children’s Hospice.
We had a tremendous day on Saturday with our guest speaker Rev Sally Willett from Thomas Risley URC in Warrington. Sally is also an Evangelism and Renewal Advocate for GEAR (Group for Evangelism and Renewal in the URC).
We were joined by a number of friends from other churches in Failsworth and were blessed by some terrific worship led by Mike Wate (also from Thomas Risley URC) and lively and enthusiastic teaching on the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
An important time in our Church calendar – a time to celebrate, as various denominations, that we are all part of the body of Christ, that we value each other as individuals regardless of our different traditions and practices. So on Sunday 19th January at 3pm, the churches in Failsworth will meet together at Roman Road Independent Methodist to share in a united act of worship followed by the customary refreshments when we can meet with friends old and new.
During the following week, several of the churches will be opening up one of their activities to all-comers – a chance to find out about each others’ traditions and understandings. Details of these activities can be found on the FCU Unity Poster 2014.
