…….. A DIGGER!
On the weekend when we celebrate that “all good gifts around us are sent from heaven above”, he also sends a digger! So we will have an even greater reason to thank the Lord at our Harvest Supper this evening and at our Harvest Festival service tomorrow morning.

This Friday (26th Sept) the Lighthouse team are holding a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
There’ll be a ‘prize every time’ Tombola and a book sale as well as copious amounts of tea and coffee and cake (with grateful thanks to Park Cakes) all served with a smile by the Lighthouse team.
Do come along and join us, and raise funds for this worthwhile charity.
…… but there is security fencing installed on the Holt Lane site and there is a very serious risk that the new build is getting underway.
After a whole week of glorious sunshine, the forecast said rain in the morning, clearing by lunch-time. So we thought we were in with a chance of barby-ing outside!
We should have known better – it rained, heavily at times.
So we left our our ‘chef extraordinaire’ out in the rain ……
…. and we enjoyed the fruit of his labours inside the church hall.
But it didn’t stop is having a great time and the grand sum of £118 was raised for Francis House.
Thanks to all those who helped (especially the chef!) and all those who supported us on a damp and dismal day.
On Saturday 6th September from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, we will be BBQing for anyone who wants to join us.
Whether you’re just passing by, standing at the bus stop, have a little time on your hands – or are just hungry and fancy a bite to eat – you will be welcome to join us. All we ask is that you make a donation to Francis House Children’s Hospice.
A long standing member and supporter of the Macedonia, Ruth Breakell, died on 12th July. She died peacefully in her sleep after a happy family get together. Ruth, and in fact all her family, worked tirelessly for the church and all its activities over many many years and their influence was immense. Ruth moved to Shrewsbury to be near her family when her health started to fail.
Many folk in the area remember Ruth, and our thoughts and prayer are with the family at this sad time.
Our Scout groups provide some great activities and opportunities for boys and girls in the area, but it is sad to note that the Beavers are not currently meeting and the Scouts are currently sharing with 7th Manchester group – in both cases because there are insufficient leaders/volunteers available to help with the meeting nights.
This puts a tremendous strain on the current leaders who are battling to keep things going alongside their own family and full-time work commitments. I’m pretty sure they would welcome any offer of assistance, even if it were only an occasional evening. If enough people offer an occasional evening or two it makes the job so much easier for all – and you never know – you might actually enjoy yourself! Please give this some careful consideration and prayer.
The Friday morning Lighthouse will be taking a break for a couple of weeks and will not be opening on 11th or 18th April. Normal service is planned to resume on 25th.
The Lighthouse team are holding a Springtime Coffee Morning on Friday 16th May. There’ll be refreshments, cakes, a bookstall and a ‘prize every time’ tombola. The proceeds will go to the ‘New Church’ Fund, so come along and support us, and have some fun too!
